Privacy Policy

EasyNotes does not collect, transmit, sell or share any of your data. There is no server, no account, no analytics and no third party involved at any point.

What EasyNotes stores

The notes and pages you write, and nothing else. They are held in Chrome's own extension storage on your computer:

• chrome.storage.local — every page and note. This never leaves your machine.
• chrome.storage.sync — as many of your most recent notes as Chrome's 102,400-byte allowance permits, so they appear on your other computers.

EasyNotes also stores a random identifier for each installation. It exists only so the extension can tell whether your notebook has appeared on more than one device, and is never linked to you, your Google account, or anything outside the extension.

Where synced notes go

If you are signed into Chrome with sync switched on, Chrome replicates that storage through your own Google account, exactly as it does your bookmarks. EasyNotes hands the data to Chrome and has no further part in it — no copy reaches the author of this extension or anybody else. Google's handling of synced data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

Turn Chrome sync off and nothing leaves your computer at all. EasyNotes keeps working.

What EasyNotes never does

• No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or usage tracking.
• No network requests of any kind. The extension contains no remote code and contacts no server, including the author's.
• No advertising, and no sale or transfer of data to anyone.
• No reading of the pages you browse. EasyNotes requests no host permissions and cannot see any website you visit.

Permissions, and why

• storage — to save your notes and sync them through your Chrome profile.
• unlimitedStorage — so the notebook has no size ceiling on your own machine.

Those are the only two permissions requested.

Deleting your data

Removing the extension from chrome://extensions deletes its local storage. To clear the synced copy as well, delete your notes inside EasyNotes before uninstalling, or reset Chrome sync from your Google account. You can export everything to a Markdown file at any time with the ↓ button in the footer.

Children

EasyNotes is a plain notebook and is suitable for all ages. It collects nothing from anyone.
